Dealing with vandalism on Wiki

In case of vandalism on our Wiki:

< 1. To recover the page back the proper version >
(1-1) visit the vandalized page;
(1-2) click the "history" bar on the top;
(1-3) select the right page from the history (radio button), and the "current (vandalized page)";
(1-4) "Compare Selected version";
(1-5) "Edit" the right version;
(1-6) republish the right version.

< 2. To block vandalizing IPs >
(2-1) also in the "history," identify the vandalizing IPs, and "Block"

< 3. To protect pages from unwanted edits in the future >
(3-1) visit the page to be protected;
(3-2) "protect" bar on the top - I selected the protection against "new and unregistered users"
(3-p.s.) For "protected" pages, instead of the "protect" bar, one will see the "unprotect" bar.

Should anyone be able to protect pages?

I have logged in and gone to my pages but don't see any "protect" bar on the top. On my prererences page it says I am a Member of groups: Autoconfirmed users, Users.

Any info is appreciated.

Thanks,
Nate

Hi Nate,
At this moment only administrators can protect the pages on wiki.
Technically it would be complicated if we permit all users to be able to protect pages since there are unsolicited registrations to the website. Also in order to take advantages of the group wisdom/inputs, we are currently keeping all new listings open for edits/revisions for a while, and then protect the pages when they are (almost) finalized.

The approaches for "Dealing with vandalism on Wiki" are posted for our members who may be interested in participating in the administration of our Wiki. Does running the Wiki site look interesting to you?

Is there a particular page you intend to protect?
